Detailed description
The fin‑type heat sink is a high‑performance metal thermal component. Using a fin‑milling process, a solid aluminum billet is machined into an integrally formed array of heat‑dissipating fins, with no seams or joints between the base plate and the fins.
Compared with profile‑type and finned‑plate heat sinks, finned designs can be made thinner with narrower fin spacing, significantly increasing the heat‑dissipation area, reducing thermal resistance, and enhancing heat‑transfer efficiency. The base plate and fins form an integral structure, eliminating contact thermal resistance, making them well suited for cooling high‑power electronic devices.
The material is typically aluminum alloy, offering flexible machining and customizable fin height and thickness. It is widely used in low-voltage inverters, 5G base stations, energy storage systems, high-power industrial control equipment, and other applications.
The drawback is that the manufacturing cost is higher than that of standard finned radiators. During daily use, care should be taken to avoid bending or deforming the fins, as such deformation can reduce airflow and heat dissipation, thereby compromising the equipment’s operational stability.
